‘OHIO DRONE LLC’ WINS SCHOLARSHIP TO COMPETE IN GDI PARTNERS TRIAD EVENT

Small Cincinnati Start-up Competes To Bring Advanced Drone Technology To TriState.

CINCINNATI, OH, 8/13/2020 - Ohio Drone, LLC (OHD), a start-up drone technology company established in Cincinnati, Ohio in 2017 under the Ohio Aerospace Institute (OAI) recently won an Ohio Manufacturing Extension Partnership (OMEP) scholarship through TechSolve to participate in GDI Partners TRIAD event.

Ohio Drone, who specializes in converting commercial applications like sensor technology or sanitization technology into American made drone integrated solutions for enterprise customers, will be presenting a counter drone detection and defense system that they’ve partnered with fellow start-up RAVGN (pronounced: ‘raven’) on. Together, Ohio Drone and RAVGN will commercialize a CRANE technology developed by the Navy for long-range detection of sUAV aircraft into a BVLOS enabling, drone detection and defense system.

Ohio Drone’s CEO Rob Charvat says:

“As our country moves closer towards adopting drones for a wide variety of industry applications the need for comprehensive detection, traceability, and defense systems becomes ever more apparent with each news article that comes out where people are using drones to drop contraband into prison yards right here in Ohio or flying drones into passenger aircraft approach paths.”

The system being developed by Ohio Drone and their partners will provide both passive and active engagement options for the users and is expected to be available to DOD/Government entities and to Commercial entities.

GDI Partners TRIAD event will put companies like Ohio Drone together in front of DOD and Federal tech scouts looking for unique technologies addressing the needs identified for 2020 and beyond.

Ohio Drone’s COO Amanda Cannell says:

“We’re really excited about TRIAD because we’ve not had an opportunity like this before; to get to present our technology directly to these tech scouts...for a small company like us who wouldn’t ordinarily get that kind of exposure… it’s huge.”

The Ohio Drone team hopes to use this event to secure contracts and/or development funding to fully commercialize the technology.
